India creates world record by waving 78,220 tricolors simultaneously

On 23 April 2022, India entered the Guinness Book of World Records by waving 78,220 tricolor flags simultaneously at the “Veer Kunwar Singh Vijayotsav” programme at  Duler Ground in Jagdishpur, Bhojpur, Bihar.

Ministry of Culture said that the occasion was a tribute to the glorious victory of the then King of Jagdishpur, Veer Kunwar Singh, who is considered one of the ‘heroes’ of the freedom struggle of 1857.

The event was organized by the Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Culture under the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, the 75th anniversary of India’s Independence, in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

The attempt was witnessed by representatives of the Guinness Book of World Records and attendees were asked to wear bands for the physical identification. The complete event is documented in video form.

In his address, the Union Home Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has envisioned that in 2047, India should lead globally and this can be our true tribute to all brave freedom fighters like Veer Kunwar Singh.

Babu Veer Kunwar Singh emerged as a prominent leader of the Indian freedom struggle of 1857, who even at the age of about 80, fought bravely against the British colonial rule. He belonged to the Ujjayini dynasty of the Parmar Rajputs of Jagdishpur, a part of present-day Bhojpur district, Bihar, India.

At the age of 80, he led a selected band of armed soldiers against troops under the command of the British East India Company. He was the significant‘hero’ of the freedom struggle in Bihar against British colonial rule. He is popularly known as Veer Kunwar Singh.

PM Modi receives the first Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award

Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Awards Ceremony in Mumbai on Sunday. On this occasion, Prime Minister was conferred 1st Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award.

The award has been instituted in memory of Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar which will be given every year exclusively to one individual for exemplary contribution towards nation building.

The Prime Minister started by saying that though he does not have too deep a knowledge of music but by cultural appreciation, it is felt that sangeet is both a ‘sadhna’ and an emotion.  He continued and said “the one that expresses the unexpressed is word. One that fills the expressed with energy and consciousness is ‘naad’. And the one that fills conscious with emotions and feelings and takes it to the extreme of creation and sensitivity is ‘sangeet’.

Prime Minister said that he is generally not very comfortable with receiving awards but when the Mangeshkar Family calls with an award that carries the name of an elder sister like Lata Didi, then it becomes a symbol of her affection and love. “It is not simply possible for me to say no to this. I dedicate this award to all the countrymen. As Lata Didi belonged to people, this award given to me in her name also belongs to people”, the Prime Minister said.

PM Modi confers Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Public Administration on Civil Services Day

On the occasion of Civil Services Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conferred the Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Public Administration at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on Thursday.

Modi underlined the significance of this year’s celebration as it is taking place in the year of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. He asked the administrators to call past district administrators in this special year to the district. This will infuse new energy in the district and will provide a welcome dynamism in perspective of district administration informed by the experience of the past.

The Prime Minister said that in our democratic set up we should be committed to three goals. The first goal is that there should be a change in the life of the common people in the country, their life should be easy and they should also be able to feel this ease. Secondly, given the growing stature and changing profile if India, it is imperative that whatever we do, that should be done in the global context. If we don’t follow the activities at the global level, it will be very difficult to ascertain our priorities and focus area. Thirdly, he said “Wherever we are in the system, our prime responsibility is the unity and integrity of the country, there cannot be any compromise. Even local decisions should be measured on this touchstone.”

He concluded by requesting the officers to adopt the key reforms in their personal lives. For example whether cleanliness, use of GeM or UPI is there in their own life or not.

Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Public Administration have been instituted with a view to recognize the extraordinary and innovative work done by Districts/implementing units and Central/State organisations for the welfare of common citizens. They are also conferred for effective implementation of identified priority programs and innovation.

Exemplary work done in the following five identified priority programmes will be given awards which is to be presented on Civil Services Day 2022: (i) Promoting “Jan Bhagidari” or People’s Participation in Poshan Abhiyan, (ii) Promoting excellence in sports and wellness through Khelo India scheme, (iii) Digital payments and Good Governance in PM SVANidhi Yojana, (iv) Holistic Development through One District One Product scheme, (v) Seamless, End-to-End Delivery of Services without Human Intervention.

A total of 16 awards for 5 identified Priority Programmes and for innovations in the sphere of public administration/delivery of services etc. will be given this year.

PM Modi unveils 108 ft statue of Lord Hanuman as a part of ‘Hanumanji char dham’ project

On the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi unveiled a 108 ft statue of Hanuman ji in Morbi, Gujarat on Saturday via video conferencing.

This statue is the second of the 4 statues being set up in the four directions across the country, as part of ‘Hanumanji char dham’ project. It has been set up in the west, at the Ashram of Param Pujya Bapu Keshvanand ji in Morbi.

The first statue of the series was set up in the north in Shimla in 2010. Work on the statue in the south at Rameswaram has been started.

Modi said that the project of establishing four such statues in the four corners of the country is a reflection of the resolve of ‘Ek Bharat Shresth Bharat’. He explained that Hanuman ji unites everyone with his service spirit and everyone gets inspiration from him.

The Prime Minister said “Our faith and the stream of our culture is of harmony, equality and inclusion”. This is best reflected in the fact that Lord Ram, despite being fully capable, harnessed everyone’s strength to complete his tasks.

Modi noted that Yatra Dham has made Kathiawar a hub of tourism. He talked about the Madhavpur Mela and Rann Utsav which provides immense benefits to Morbi.

Modi concluded by reiterating his request for enlisting the help of the devotees and Sant Samaj for the cleanliness drive and vocal for local campaign.

PM Modi inaugurates Pradhan Mantri Sangrahalaya, buys first ticket to enter museum

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday inaugurated Pradhanmantri Sanghralaya in New Delhi. The museum tells the story of India after independence through the lives and contributions of its prime ministers.

PM Modi became the first official visitor of the museum as he purchased the first ticket before the inauguration. PM Modi paid for the ticket via digital mode.

“Representing a seamless blend of the old and the new, the Sangrahalaya integrates the erstwhile Teen Murti Bhawan designated as Block I, with the newly constructed building designated as Block II. The total area of the two blocks is over 15,600 square metres,” said PMO.

The Sangrahalaya has employed cutting-edge technology-based interfaces to encompass heterogeneity in content and frequent rotation of display.  Holograms, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Multi-touch, etc. enable the exhibition content to become highly interactive and engaging.

There are a total of 43 galleries in the Sangrahalaya. Starting from displays on freedom struggle and the framing of the Constitution, the Sangrahalaya goes on to tell the story of how our Prime Ministers navigated the nation through various challenges and ensured the all-round progress of the country.

Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister paid tributes to Babasaheb Ambedkar and said “the constitution of which Babasaheb was the main architect, that constitution gave us the basis of the Parliamentary system. The main responsibility of this Parliamentary system has been on the office of the Prime Minister of the country. It is my good fortune that today I have got the opportunity to dedicate the Prime Minister’s Museum to the nation.”

He also acknowledged and greeted the families of the past Prime Ministers present on the occasion.

The Prime Minister said that the museum has become a living reflection of the shared heritage of each government. Every Prime Minister of the country has contributed immensely towards achieving of the goals of constitutional democracy, the Prime Minister continued. “To remember them is to know the journey of independent India. People coming here will be familiar with the contribution of the former Prime Ministers of the country, their background, their struggles and creations”, he added.

Recalling the rich history and prosperous era of India, the Prime Minister laid stress on spreading awareness about the correct picture of India’s heritage and present.

Commenting on the logo of the museum which has many hands holding the chakra, the Prime Minister said that the Chakra is the symbol of 24 hour continuity and resolve for prosperity and hard work. This resolve, consciousness and strength is going to define India’s development in the coming 25 years, The Prime Minister emphasized.

Lifestyle expects demand recovery during festive season

According to a PTI report: Demand for home products like furniture and furnishings have touched 50-60 percent of the pre-pandemic levels, he said, adding that stores were shut across the country in April and May due to the lockdown.“However, in the subsequent months till September, demand for apparels and fashion products touched 50-60 per cent of what was there in the same period of the previous year,” Rishi Vasudev, CEO, Lifestyle and Home Centre was quoted by PTI as saying.
